morning!

Have a customer with a mature Copper Beech, they have sent me these pictures of a fungus growing from the roots not the best quality I know but they are worried as the tree spans over three properties gardens and is positioned on a very steep bank.

I've asked them a few questions about it as the have only just decided to get in touch and its not present atm.

*Fungus growing from roots, dark brown on top and near white/cream underneath

*located Just at base of tree

*No crown Die back present

*No Large amounts of dead wood.

My initial reaction was Meripilus giganteus???

And would your advice be removal?

Your thoughts? Thank you in advance!
