Chipper/shredder engines?

I've seem comments on here that the cheaper Chipper/Shredders aren't up to hard professional use. However, with limited hard won funds for our Scout campsite, and not professional usage, I,m sure they will be fine.

 

I've been looking at the GTM GTS1300, the Lawnflite GTS1300G and the Titan Beaver 1500, which by the look of things is a bit of "badge engineering".

 

My reason for choosing those models is primarily for the top exit chute.

 

My question: They use a variety of engines from Lifan, Loncin & GTE. I suspect they are of Chinese origin and copies of Honda engines. Does anyone out there know anything about these engines with respect to reliability and spares availability?

 

I know the Chippers can be supplied with Honda or Mitsubishi engines, but that puts them out of our price range.

The carburettors are a very poor finish and a pain,make sure you turn fuel supply of has they have a habit of running fuel through when stored so filling bore with fuel hence lockup then .

 

Plenty of spares on e-bay but again same problems,hang out for extra cash has you will get more headaches.

Think loncin are Italian, to be fair the Chinese engines aren't that bad its what they bolt em too is usually rubbish.

Are They? There still ok though, have run quite a few things with chinky engines and the engines have been good its just what there bolted to that falls apart.

Yeah just googled it, chinky alright, not sure why I thought they were Italian. Not bad engines though.

What a pity you did not post this a month ago. My mate had a gtm for sale with a mitsubishi engine.only been used twice.

like others have said, hold out for the better engine, as it will be false economy otherwise.

Typo error via phone . ....... Hang out for more cash for better engine .

Spares are available for chinky engines but again they are poor quality.
