right, gonna try and ask this question without over complicating things, so bare with me!

 

picture this if you will....

 

You employ a new worker who is fresh out of college after gaining an ND in forestry and arb.

worker also has cs 30,31,38 and 39, however only has 6months experience under their belt.

 

monday morning rolls around and its their first morning on the job with you.

 

What tasks would you set them off with?

What would you expect from them?

 

stupid question, i know. but there is madness in my method....

Groundwork for a few days so he can get to know you and your methods and routines before throwing him in the deep end

If he tells you he's a confident climber, Bang him up a tree and see whats he's got, Anyone can drag brash and chip, If he's been at college and got his ND id wanna see whats his climbing is like!

Really?? When i first started i loved getting stuck into a massive brash pile behind a chipper(still do some days), something really rewarding about ragging branches threw a chipper!! :001_cool:

-im glad you brought that up!

 

im gonna be in this situation soon as im finishing college in a months time.

i love climbing, but we didnt get chance to do much at colllege so i lack confidence and im still quite slow!

some lads at college were great climbers but got put off it when they were pushed too far in their work experience and scared themselves cos, obviously theres a great difference in climbing at college and climbing at work!!

i really want to climb but dont want end up like those lads!!
