Air Cooled Engine overheating!

Hi guys,

I have got an air cooled Hatz engine which powers my Jensen chipper. It has a problem over heating at the moment so that when I've used it for a while the starter motor expands and won't start. It's burning a bit of oil too.

When its cold starts no problem. Have checked the oil cooler to see if it was blocked and its clean and the fan works.

Any Ideas?

Sorry, re-read this "it gets so hot that it stops and the starter cannot turn it over, " - is that right?!! It is seized when hot!?! Hmm, sounds terminal to me, oil starvation more than cooling issues....

Or temperature sensor (on cylinder 1 head on 4 cylinder models) inhibits starter??
