Newby to chainsaws

Hi

I have just bought a fully assembled new Mcculloch CS360T privately which had never had any petrol or oil inside.

I have managed to get it going as directed by the instruction manual and video on line, did have a bit of a problem with it whilst idling it started to race but I put this down to being new and think I have solved this by adjusting the carb screw for idle.

I have managed to cut 6 logs of 8" diameter and it seems to have seized, I can't pull the start cord which it locked.

Any idea how I can find out if it has been registered for warranty. and how I get it repaired if it is seized.

I'm currently not able to contact the seller as he appears to be away.

All help would be appreciated.

When you used it, did you put chain oil in the front tank and a petrol/two stroke premix at 50:1 ratio in the rear/handle tank? Or was it neat petrol:blushing:

Stihl chain Oil in front and 2 stroke oil and petrol at 1.33 ie 3% in rear chamber as indicated by manual

Well it shouldn't have seized then, best remove the spark plug and see if it will spin over and if that doesn't do it, remove the recoil cover, get a socket and wrench on the flywheel and see if the engine will turn - it may be something simple or possibly a busted ring!

 

Other than a busted ring, may be a busted circlip or something jammed above the piston or in the crankcase - just go step by step!

thanks again for your advice but I'm not sure I would be able to do what your suggesting.

It would be helpful to know if I can find out if this machine has had its warranty registered or how I go about getting it seen to under the warranty terms.

Have you knocked the chainbrake on?............Forget that, wouldn't lock the starter would it,

My two questions would be

 

"Can you move the chain along the bar by hand with the chainbrake off?"

 

and

 

"If you remove the starter housing, are you able to pull the string out".

 

I assume that Mcculloch do not have an over-the-sales-counter policy similar to Stihnk,

however they are pretty robust in stating warranty will only be given if you have an original sales receipt and are the original owner. no proof, no warranty!

Your warranty is based on your date of purchase that's on your sales receipt.

 

May we suggest that you contact your bank or the place of purchase, to see if they can produce a copy of the sales transaction.

 

The receipt is all you have to determine warranty coverage, and without it, no warranty repair can be offered

website also gives dealer info , if you are not confident in having a go yourlsef, suggest you take it in to them to at least see if it is a major problem or not.
