Towing 12V chipper with 24V truck

Options are:

 

Fit 24 v bulbs to trailer

 

Fit voltage dropper to lorry, not that simple btw.

 

You can fit led lights/ bulbs and most of them do work at 12 or 24 v but whatever you do you need a visual or audible indicator in the cab to tell you the trailers there when you use the indicators. That is a problem with the leds because they draw so little current they often don't trigger the warning light, so you have to fit a resistor, which are either 12 or 24 volt......

thanks everyone that's interesting.

 

I do tow the chipper with a 12V vehicle some of the time, so didn't want to swap bulbs for 24V, although I might give it a try and see how dim they are.

 

dual voltage leds I suppose would be option 2.
