Being up in these today, reminded me of the trees at Staverton Park.

Appears that Suffolk has a very strong wooded historical & cultural link right across the county.

 

& there was me thinking it was just a bunch of pine stands :001_rolleyes:

You should go to ickworth park near bury, it has a 700+ year old oak and other old beasts.

very nice david, they look quite old got any time scales, what was the random story, something interesting enough for you to go walkies....lol

 

Read about some arson on one of the vet pollards, so went to have a butchers.

Local rag said the tree was now likely to die, but having seen it, I think it will be Ok.

 

 

Bit of a shame that someone made the decision to sever the fallen sections branch tips. It may have been still conected.

 

 

The sites history goes back 800 years apparantly.
