Our client is a busy local authority in the south east encompassing five towns to make up the largest urban area outside of London. With strong regional development (it includes part of the Thames Gateway) the area is expected to grow substantially in terms of population and services. As such the Greenspace Department is a very active place to work.

Working out of offices in Gillingham. they are currently looking to employ an Assistant Contracts Manager (Grounds) to assist with the management of their arboricultural and grounds maintenance operations . This will involve surveying and site inspections, issuing works instructions and auditing work on completion prior to payment authorisation.

Rate of pay will be subject to qualifications and experience, and in the range of £33,934 - £37,702 for a 37 hour week. Candidates will need to hold a horticultural or arboricultural qualification and have management experience of landscaping, grounds maintenance and arboriculture - ideally in a public sector environment. Good communication and personnel skills are important in dealing with grounds/tree related enquiries from members of the public and other stake holders.
