Something different... Bat boxes.

We have to take down some -nearly dead and hollow- american oak near the roadside. One problem is that there are a lot of bats roosting in them and we can't get the permission to fell them unless we place roosting boxes in the remaining trees.

 

Soooow, a few minutes google-ing to find building plans for bat boxes and half a day making them with some local kids left us with enough boxes to put up in the trees. Fun little project.

Don't think a beaver would fit in one of these -don't think they can climb that high either... 😂

Lol the kids will love it their only 6 to 8 years of age. Might even set up a climbing line for them to help with installation

Did the same thing. Have to say this ones about 10 and it wasn't the first time he went up a tree. Knows how to climb a double rope and prussik...

My elder daughter got invested into Beavers on Monday. They would love something like that. Should make for a very rewarding evening.
