It certainly impressed when I had a little trial on it. Looks to be a winner for the future...

Been climbing on my Tachyon over a month now and have been impressed.
One thing that has impressed me most is the firmness in the hand, I thought I would'nt like this, yet I do, it seems to help self tending and feels more comfortale to grip. Although the rope is firm its still very flexible and knots well, unlike other firm ropes i've used. My 45m length milked about a foot, to be honest that does'nt bother me in the slightest, as long as your rope isn't heat sealed at one end for the first few big climbs then removing the excess outer cover is not a problem, then you can seal the end. |

I got a hank of Tachyon a few weeks ago. My 150' of KMIII got bagged and the Tachyon went into the same pack. The first thing that I noticed is that the Tachyon takes up less room in the pack. After re-flaking the rope a few times I think that the reason is that the hand of Tachyon is softer so it folds down into tighter layers than KMIII. The next thing that is noticed is the reduced weight. After dragging the pack w/KMIII through many airports I can tell the difference.
When I climbed on Tachyon I could feel how nice it is. The soft hand makes for a little easier gripping. I climb using the Unicender and SRT all of the time. KMIII has been my rope of choice for years. Tachyon has shouldered itself above my old friend though. It handles just a little nicer in the tree. It's hard to put into words what I mean though. After climbing on the rope a few times I found only a few inches of milking. Nothing to even talk about. |

It's too early to comment on durability.

Only used it 4 times and nicked it with the saw, I was gutted, Its the first time i've cut any gear ever! It would have to be a brand new rope. Any way i spliced a new eye following the instructions on the new england site and got a very nice result at the second attempt ( not easy ). Its too early to say how durable it is but to climb on its excellent, the low stretch is really noticeable next to the xtc that I was using before its also noticeably lighter. So far I have been using it with samson bail out and they seem to go together pretty well, smooth decents and a good grip ( with a martin hitch ). Overall i really like it but it'll have to last well to really win me over.

I find it has alot of strech on most climbs compared to the Blaze I had before this line. Nobody else seems to find this prob that I have spoken to though.

I have been using this rope for ages now, I love it, slim supple good feel and great for throwing advancment.
it is a little less hard wearing than others, but i use a cambium saver all the time so this downside is compensated for. Though i do switch to a fire for a big heavy take down, thicker heavy wearing rope more confidance on the heavy heavy stuff. |
