What causes the bar to do this

Ms150 was noisy this morning, bar was oiling well. When I looked closer bar tip has started to change shape. Really not sure why as it's only been getting light use for carving. Is it time to order a new bar? Any advice most welcome.

It's not meant for carving titanium!

Isn't that caused by too loose a chain? "Light use" it might be but its got bloody hot, looks like the header pipes on my Guzzi. Still, like the old T cut joke, "that should file out...":laugh1:

Carving some Alder and Silver Birch and not really running it at any way near full pelt.

Chain was normal tension as I hate running saw with a slack chain, it was doing a few plunge cuts into Alder and I noticed it started to get a bit more noisy than usual. So stopped to clean the saw and sharpen chain when I noticed the Bar.

assuming that this is on the underside and you are using it for carving is that not the point on the bar that gets used the most and most likely gives the most wear?

Actually, thinking about it, aren't you supposed to run the chain loose for carving so it does not overheat? Like you however I always carve with a normal tension chain

Were you using a Piranha chain?.... I had one hear the bar up the same colour along the edge, but it didn't wear anything like that!!
