Which is best?

I've been building myself up to buy a Dolmar PS-7910 which I can find online for 779euros. We do have a local Dolmar dealer but his price is a bit more than this.

I have now found a Makita EA7900P60E-PM for 638euros for what is on the face of it the same saw.

I have two questions. Are these two identical or pretty close to it and is my local dealer going to handle either of them should the need arise?

Thoughts gentlemen please.

ps a mate 'says' he has just bought a Stihl 660 for 720 euros. If he is telling the truth, would this be a better bet? I'm aware it's a higher spec saw and I suspect it may be more saw and heavier than I really want/need.

Go to the locl dealer with evidence of the lower price machine and see if he will match it.

If he can't, see if he can add accessories to the value ofthe difference as sometimes they are contractually bound to hold a price.

He may be OK about it as long as he makes some margin out of the sale and perhaps follow up business!

Hi,

Your dealer may match but don't bank on it in France unless you already have a fairly good relationship with them in terms of purchasing!

Where can you get the 660 for 720 Euros or about 525 GBP then?

I think there would be a long queue.

Dolmar are owned by Makita, same saws. I wrote article in arb news letter, titled also available in orange referencing the quality in build of Makita aka dolmar. Tad heavy but well built in my opinion.

Dont think they are exactly the same . TCD will be along ............Oh he is there already

For clarification and this is GOSPEL: the mak and the dol are NOT the same; this goes beyond the colour! Different carb, coil, filter, etc etc.

Basically the same, but not always 100%, is another way to say it....

Finding a NOS 7900/7901 would of course be preferable to buying a 7910

That's ok but when parts are becoming obsolete there are only certain parts that will interchange and you could end up waiting for parts

Better off buying new and orange like this one PS-7910

Full Wrap Handle , HD air filter

Sugihara bar 8 pin sprocket

It cuts fast enough for me :001_rolleyes::001_rolleyes:
