I have a Stihl MS023 and its in need of a new piston and pot because they are scored and the saws not running right now.

Does anyone else fit new piston and pots or just bin the whole unit and buy a new saw?

The new parts are far cheaper than a new saw so this is the way I am wanting to go !

You may be able to salvage the pot if you clean off the ally tranfere with some chemical ( brick cleaner works according to spud ) and then fit a new Metior piston . Metior are very good , close to OEM qulity .

So worth doing then !

Cheers Guys

worth a go if you can do it yourself, make sure you seal the bottom joint well and also check the reason for failure with a leak down test. If you have no facillity to do this then fit new seals, use a quality gasket sealent and check the manifold and impulse line has no splits etc.
