Vertical splitter Multech or Riko ?

After breaking my back for four days with an axe the time has come to invest in a vertical splitter ( will run it off hydraulics on telehandler or bobcat) . I want a waist height table - thinking Multech or Riko circa 12 tonne, Anyone had any experience of either ? Or any advice ?

I have a Multec, forget the tonnage, was one of their very first splitters.

Good value for money and well enough built.

Mine has a side table, which isn't that well made, the steel isn't heavy enough.

 

I also have a Uniforest splitter that came from Riko, 25 tonnes I think.

Very well made, an absolute beast.

Riko are also a very good company to deal with.

I must add, Multec to an age to deliver, and kept promising me dates, and kept letting me down.

That pissed me off.

What did you give for your uniforest

 

Had our first processor off them good outfit to deal with

 

Been toying with the idea of going pto but like sticking the petrol magic along side the joy and breaking down the stuff with unions on that.

 

The joy will split it but its not pretty logs, struggles on the 12 way once had to leave the knife on the bonfire as could not get the jam up sorted

Thanks for the advice. I've purchased a couple of items from Jim at Riko and as you say the service is top notch. Multech don't have a 2nd tier margin to add on and seem better priced. I like the idea of the extended table. Problem is I only want to buy once. Torn between price, features and a machine that will have full and known support

iv got a multitech 14t, my 85 hp renault would run it let alone split a log, now the manitou is the complete oppasite , 92ltrs per min, does the job.think it was £460, deliverd .

I have the uniforest titanium 25 as well. Can't fault it brilliant machine. If ever your near my way come and have a look

My shortlist would be in no particular order thor uni forest bindenberger [vasaline at the ready] posch and the new contender is rytec a little over priced considering there quite new to the vertical splitter market

 

Ive seriously considered uni forest myself but when i change mine ill stick with thor as mines been faultless changed the oil in engine every 6 months and thats it still on the first set of guides and its had some stick
