Defender TD5 won't start. Any ideas?

I've been away on my hols for 3 weeks and have just got back.

I went to pull my landy round to the driveway so that I could start loading it up for my next working trip down to Devon, but the bugger won't start. I get a clicking noise from the soleniod as if it is a flat battery, so I checked the charge, all fine. I've tried the usual, rocking it in gear, hitting the starter, nothing. I've now noticed that one of the relays under the drivers seat is buzzing when I turn the ignition on and sometimes for a few seconds after I switch it off.

Any ideas?

Anyone?

Please!

I had this on my 2004 td5.

Turned out the fuel pressure regulator was slowly leaking diesel onto the starter motor. The diesel evaporated and left a sticky gunk inside the motor, stopping it turning.

I sprayed a load of brake cleaner all over it and rinsed it out with a hose. THis was over a year ago, it hasn't given me any trouble since.

let me know if that helps, it's worth a try and doesn't cost anything…..
