Veteran tree preservation?

Is there any organisation or financial aid in place to help with the conservation of veteran trees?

The tree is on public land and the LA has a limited budget and can't stretch to extra maintenance for this very old oak, at present the budget just about covers the priority works and nothing else, unfortunately she's had very little work in the last 10 years and the public have taken to parking underneath her so some sort of bollards/fence needs erecting, and then there's the grounds maintenance contractors who are desperately trying to fell her with a strimmer!

Yes there is, contact the ATF, if it is a worthy tree they can and will help.

 

Failing that get off your butt and raise the cash yourself, locales are more than willing to chip in if you inform them and educate them to the issues

This is the little lady, currently laced together with a ridiculously tight cable brace and has a pretty huge honey bee nest in residence too

If nothing comes of this I will personally turn up do the work mulch it and fence it (with oak)

Then that's my job for tomorrow! It's such a shame she's been ignored, I understand finances etc but money shouldn't dictate the survival of a genuine gem like this, generally she's in good health but if few little things are left as they are it will surely lead to something more serious I feel.
