I am thinking of buying a second hand quad for general work in a small woodland and wondered which make and model lends itself to this kind of work. Budget would be up to £5000.

5grand? You could buy a Honda new for that (Fourtrax420FM). Depending what you need it for i would actually suggest a fresh Arctic Cat 700 diesel. Abit noisey, and slow (compared to petrol) but tows 1tonne. 2year old well looked after ones are around £3500 and remember - they run on red!! New they are £8000, so depreciation is a killer, but itl last a long time (and not get nicked by an eagle-eyed oppertunist after a Honda).

Not sure where you are based this Richard zero7866five21348) at exmoor atvs has some cracking bikes that would come in under your budget. A real nice chap and makes sure they are all tip top before they leave, suspension bushes, bearings etc (if needed). Mainly deals in used hondas but can source other makes as well
