I dont see the point of a second hand 088.... why pay 500-650 for a 2nd hand one when a new one is 1100 quid.... and will last countless years.

wish i hadn't have sold my 088 but it didnt get the use.

it's .4 bhp more powerful.

084 is lower revving, higher torque so slightly better for milling.

AND has a manual oiler! The most important difference... And dual port mufflers are available for it.
Oh and most parts are still available from stihl

I've never really been too worried about the manual oiler. Running up to 4ft bars I haven't found I needed it, except on a 47" hard nosed bar and if I needed to mill bigger than that I would fit an aux oiler anyway.

Handy for when your oil pump packs up though.

Colwood - Home
oils automatically with the addition of a thumb operated pump you can press every now and then to pump a little extra oil . helps on longer bars .
