Stihl 034 was my first own saw, it was a right beast to use, as I was only 13 and had only used much lesser saws until then. I grew very fond of that saw, until somebody borrowed it without asking...

Stihl 064 with a 25" bar. Practiced a bit with a tree surgeon for a weekend, then the first thing I did on my own was fell a 3' oak. Unfortunately the saw got scrapped when it destroyed its third pot and piston inside three months - this was when the problem with fuel life in unleaded was just being identified so it was assumed that the saw was the problem.

Husky 44, got it from a guy selling it out of the local paper when I was 14.
I had just done a weeks work experience on a local estate in the woods dept., and had been helping by fueling, oiling and sharpening. I even got to use a saw cutting laurel, so had to get one for myself! Turned up at the guys house, got a lift from my mummy, tried to tell him i knew what i was doing and realised that i had never started a saw before, looked a right arse trying to pull it without my foot in the rear handle! a steep learning curve then followed!

Stihl 041 for me- no chain brake etc. Brilliant saw and built like a tank. Given to me blunt by by father with the instruction- make it cut and you can keep it. Certainly taught me about sharpening chains very quickly!

Husqy 266 with 20" bar, used it for every thing, climbings saw etc.

Well mine was an old Husky, it did have a chain brake but thats about it!
After a while I traded it in against a 044 which I still use today. Here are a couple of photo's of my friends fathers first saw, it cost him £40 and thats what he sold it to me for... bargain in my eyes

Mc nackered up 335 broke down 4 times on same tree so lost my self control and smashed it up with a lump hammer all fixed now nice no more trouble etc all out of breath n hot n bothered but feel loads better now its fixed propper end of
