346xp problem?

I have a 346xp borrowed from a landscaping mate for my 30/31 course.

It runs fine etc but after 30 secs or so idling it cuts out, now he says hes adjusted the 'timing' so that it does that. Now I have the manual and cant find anything about that at all, is it even a feature or has he been adjusting the carburettor settings? Or is it knackered?

It's fairly easy, turn it (with a small flat-bladed screwdriver) one way and Idling revs increase, turn it the other way and they'll decrease.

They need to be fast enough so it doesn't stall, and slow enough to not start turning the chain whilst idling. It's in your manual.

Have a play, not much to go wrong.

Not sure you'd learn that on CS 30 as I never did it.

You won't learn that, but here: NPTC | Assignment Schedules is the page with all the assessment criteria for NPTC courses.

CS courses are down to the right. Wade through the first few pages and everything you will be assessed on [and hence should learn] is listed.

Download, print, read & digest before you go on the course, will help no end.

I have a file with all of them in, plus any other info I come across. Very handy resource I find!

Thankyou, will give it a good read.
