Sappie is what I prefer but tongs are better than nothing , bacho made some awesome tongs with very well shaped tips... This design is my favourite sappie though and appears also made for ochsenkopf ,Oregon the good old stubai ImageUploadedByArbtalk1490337660.019342.jpg.714f787f1209ddb5a1be141373973342.jpg

It's light so can be used all day with out fatigue but seems to stay imbedded in timber with a fair clout and strong enough to last...tryed loads of numerous other makes from the heavier wooden handled to this all singing ochsenkopf ImageUploadedByArbtalk1490337996.649259.jpg.ae696f8971990d0fedc443436a36b5e4.jpgwith an apparent indestructible handle that I thought the weight would be good in hardwoods but the tip snapped in 5 mins.

It's got to be down to the user but I would certainly give the stubai a look it changed my view on sappies any one who has used mine and likes there back has brought one too.

Never used a sappie, but tongs I find indispensable. Was like going from a push-bike to a Ferrari after years of hand-lugging logs. With a tong, you can get such a strong lock on the end of a long branch, can drag it through undergrowth, with a pair of tongs, you can pick up and throw big branches, lift rounds you would normally be physically unable to lift, two guys can lug serious timber. Even just getting a grip on things cab be tough sometimes, when there's no stubs to grab, the tongs will bite....

Picking up rounds with tongs in each hand way more efficient than one log in both hands. Always a positive grip on logs. No resin covered hands.......... I'm a new convert from the sappie that often pops out when your really heaving hard and ya end up sat on ya are hoping that no one saw it !

I have had a pair of bahco tings for years and they are very well made tools. I have recently bought a still log pick and it is brilliant, so efficient, saves bending and speeds things up. It's too soon to comment on its longevity but I wish I'd got one years ago!
