Jonesered 2036

Hi, I picked up a cheap Jonsered 2036 as a project for my son and I. We replaced the pull cord, checked for a spark, reattached the fuel pipe, did a compression test and generally cleaned it up.

It will only start and run with the choke out.

We stripped and cleaned the carb, and it still only runs with the choke out.

What should the H and L settings be? Would this be the cause of it only running with the choke out?

Cheers

This machine could be either the Husqvarna 36 or 136, there are plenty of things to check, the rubber induction tube for splits, the impulse seal spli, the flywheel side seal blown inside out, fuel filter blocked, should keep you going for a while.

Hi, thanks for the replies. We've just taken the exhaust off and there is very slight scoring near the top of the piston, the skirt on the exhaust is fine, no scratches or scores. When we just tried it again we needed to put fuel down the plug hole in order to get it to run.

adw, where is the rubber induction tube located?, we' ll try a new fuel filter tomorrow, also where is the impulse seal found? Other than the throttle and choke connections there is nothing else connected to the carb except the fuel supply pipe.

Cheers
