Can't find a definitive answer on this so thaught I would ask! Got a new 550xpg conning in ge morning and it's my first saw with heated handles. I have been reading issues with heated carbs on saws causing issues and folk disconnecting them, is this easily done or can someone tell me how to do it please?

Many thanks

Tomm

The heater element is sited between the back of the carb and the air filter housing, it is easily removed however you also need to remove the thermostate on the top of the carb and the wiring, one wire requires removing the heater switch, the wire is in a terminal here, another wire goes to earth under one of the carb floor screws.

I would leave as is as might affect warranties and there is still a chance of some severe weather before springtime. I have used heated handles on 242XPG's, 346XPG's and 395XPG with no issues even in warm conditions. Looking at a new clearing saw with heated handles to replace a worn out 240R
