372 ideas?

Just got my 372 back together after it melted a piston in the summer.

Have done a muffler mod on it and just got to get the carb set up.

 

Having ideas of making it into an awesome firewood machine.

 

8t sprocket

15-16" bar

Full skip chain

 

Now does that sound a little crazy or should I just keep a bigger bar on it

Have a try with full chisel .325 chain with 7 pin sprocket plus a 18 in bar. Nothing odd there ..? ..Well if you go from a non lo pro 3/8 set up of any sort you will find the 3/8 7pin and the .325 7pin are different diameters(.325 is smaller) .You get a gear down going to .325 from 3/8 that will allow the saw to hold a higher rpm in the cut allowing chain speed to stay up plus you wont pull the saw down into its 9000-9800 Torque zone as easy. A subtle and cheep change that you may like ...give it a go.:001_smile:

Didn't know a 325 sprocket would fit it.

 

Going to do some research and see what sort of a beast I can make this into.

The spec on the 362 365 372 shows a option of .325.. so i would think there will be a rim sprocket clutch that takes the (small) 19mm rim sprocket. If you can only get the clutch drum for 22mm then i would say that 3/8 is the only option.

I ve got a 362 which has got a 372 cylinder and piston fitted, it can run .325 or 3/8 I have ran a 15 inch bar with oregon lo pro .325 .050 chain and 8 tooth sprocket its one hell of a saw.

But also run a 24 inch bar as well with the 8 sprocket.

We posted together...figured there was a way Paul :thumbup1:

Would have got spud to port it . Then you could play with 8t sprocket in 3/8 full chiz .

 

Not sure about me porting it after all I only managed to get a 30% improvement on a saw that was already wearing a jungle muffler. Not much really:sneaky2::001_tt2:

 

Reckon the 3/8 will be faster on a short bar, bigger chip, deeper cut etc. The 0.325 is faster on sub 60cc saws and is marginal on 60cc.

 

The 8 pin is a good idea on 16 and possibly 18" bars.
