it would retrieve:001_smile:, the ball would go through the first crab on the left on the way up, release it, and then the re direct would slide down before the ball was even at the rope guide

How would it work with say a pulley saver?

 

when retrieving, the spliced eye of your climbing rope will go through the pulley carabiner on it's way to the pulley saver. the redirect would then be free!

 

 

awesome idea btw! i might use the idea but in a really crude, unspliced form.

this looks good. I was recently introduced to using a sling and a crab for a redirect. The sling was wrapped around the desired limb in such a way that it was secure under load but retrievable by simply flicking the climbing line to release it from being 'trapped' on itself. This was used in an aerial rescue practice but I don't see why it couldn't be used in every day climbing.
