Portfolio Dilema

Evening Chaps,

I have been very fortunate in the fact that i have got myself a job interview in a couple days.

I have subcontracted myself out to a number of companies for a few years, whilst also running my own tree company. I have applied for the post of a Arboricultural surveyor...

I have a Lv3 in Arb.. and have been covering all aspects of tree work! since leaving college 6 years ago.

Anywho they have asked me to bring a portfolio with me to the interview. and in here lies my problem... What do you put in a portfolio?? what should you leave out of a portfolio?

As always your view's and advice are more than welcoming....

Many Thanks..

Employers want you to hit the ground running once in post not find out they have to teach you a whole load of things.

I think the portfolio is required to help them speed up the process of assessing your skills suitable for the position; so include anything helpful along those lines.

You are likely to have been given a job description- so aim to tick the tasks on the job description and honestly show you are able to do the job. Examples might be-photographs of your tree work, examples of risk assessments and inspections carried out. Computer literacy re inspections.

And a nice folder to show you have thought about its presentation.

Good luck.
