Im looking to buy a used chipper what is the best way to check it's history?

Thanks

Hi Jimthedog.

Contact the manf/importers of machine with the serial numbers. This is a good source of history. Then call previous owners using details gained.

Ask seller for its history, who, what, where & when. If its vague or not plausible, then why???

As you know, if you buy a machine with HP/or stolen, no matter how much you pay, its not yours.

When I bought the Bandit from another tree surgeon, he told me me its history and that he bought from another tree guy (with name) When I called Global Recycling to check they gave its history with previous owners and parts/repairs and dates.

I know persons will say this kind of comprehensive history may not be available, well then do you want it anyway???

Steve

As he says...

Get the serial number and ring the original supplier/manufacturer/importer. Don't be afraid to walk away. I recently had to tell a chap who brought one cheap that it was cheap for a reason, it was someone else's!

Hi,

Recently brought a new chipper I brought it from mason wood chippers after going to view about 6 private ones. Only trouble is you will hafto pay vat and if you carnt claim it back it's a heavy extra. felt that I had payed slightly over the ods but I've used it for about 3 month and not had one problem with it tuch wood.

My advice it go to a good dealer and pay that bit more.
