Wood I.D anyone?

Hi,

can anyone help me I. Do these 2 types of wood?

I have taken them to a few wood joiners/ carpenters but no one seems to know

so far I have had people say jarrah elm yew to name a few.

A chap from interesting timbers reckons it's tropical but was not sure what they were.

Any ideas as need to sell but want to know what it is to list

i'm fairly certain that the first one is azobe (Lohpira Alata).

 

the second looks very similar to african mahogany but i am not 100% sure.

 

if you send me samples i could make a more positive id.

 

Agreed Steve, first sure looks like Azobe

The second has a very West African look but without closer examination I'm thinking the Sapele/Utile family. Those bands of close parenchyma tissue look very characteristic.
