I stopped advertising with them yonks ago and have never looked back.

In my opinion a good web page, a good general advert for local village magazines (that kind of thing) and a well sign written truck, plus company livery for your team is all that is needed. Get your name around as one that produces good quality tree work and the calls will come flooding.

'Everybody still advertising in YP'?

Not anyone with any sense. Unbelievable waste of money. From my experience years ago they were absolute scoundrels.

Ask yourself who/how many use YP nowadays.

Web site - don't bother with these 'get you to the top of the searches' goons either.

Well you could go for being the top ranked on the google search for your area. But any of any worth doing so isn't going to cold call you when they get your number out of a magazine or whatever. When I advertised on gumtree I used to get loads of of these idiots calling. One guy would ring every week claiming to 'manage the top page of google for my area' despite having a thick Manc accent and no such position existing.

I have had a company from Manchester repeatedly calling me of late, started by saying no thanks, end up hanging up on him when he got rude. He or someone else from Manchester then calls up again, to which I hang up, I then got a couple of calls where he doesn't speak. Rings each week. Bloody annoying...
