Is Ocean Vectran the same as Ocean Polyester?

I ordered some OP and OV has been delivered in 8mm. Tried serarching online for it but i can only find OV in 6mm. I am about to splice up some E2E's but i'm just wondering if its the same, just a different colour?

OP now comes is the same colour as OV.

Is that yellow and green? Only I ordered OP from FR Jones and yellow and green arrived, whereas I was expecting orange.

I think the green means it's certified for life support. Ov and op should be spliced differently, ov class 2 op class 1

Mmmm.... i'd better find out for sure that is green and yellow OP that i've spliced as i've done a class1 splice on it! Its construction looks the same as the conventional coloured OP that i normally climb on.

 

Do they do OV in 8mm? All the searches i've made online only mention a 6mm OV. And, i can't find any reference to a green coloured OP!

 

Its a bit scary that they make 2 ropes with different construction, the same colours!

There a million ropes that look the same! Your hitch is op, so class 1 is spot on.Ive spliced up the ov and will probably test the class 1 splice but tbh it's too thin to be used as hitch cord anyway.
