I was under the impression that you only need to run 25:1 if you are using shite two stroke, using a hi spec oil such as Stihl you only need to be 50:1

Id agree dean, I can remember the old danarms used to be 16-1, as you say the oil wasn't as good quality as it is today.

I was using stihl hp, but the plug gunked up. The choke leaver was exposed and I thing whilst my guy was using it, it got caught on branches/briar so maybe flooded. The air filter was foam. It was a really crap machine on hire. Took it back and will be using an fs410 next week. Think the brand was gardecare. Looked a bit chinesey. Didn't even bother putting any more fuel in, in the end.

Gardencare is one of the better chinese products, but is, at around £230 for a 40cc machine, only of domestic quality. ( If I hired out machines I would certainly not use cheap machines such as this)

It will quite happily run @ 50:1 on stihl oil. I am not surprised though, that the plug oiled up at 25;1.
