just..from what I know ... this is identical to Valdotain tied with a single rope as was in use once with mountain guide, or still in France i guess, google "noeuds valdotain" to have an idea, closed in the same way, just not sure how was attached to the harness cause I never really used it like that, but in the open form or..with a single cord is the Valdotain or French Prusik we are more used to

actually on storrick there is also a bit confusion with this three knot...

from what I know and...

....from what you can find around the net...

these three description don't satisfied me...I find em a bit strange

like on French Prusik... i used to call like that the Valdotain aka Pemberthy in his base form 5/7 wraps ...just formed with a loop of cord

so the valdotain should be the same just made with a single rope and both end attached to carabiner...

and the same knot tied with a piece or the tail of the rope, closed with a sort of bowline becoming the same knot as the Helical... which in france literature is called ..."Valdotain",

and which I am not practical but I guess from what i see was possible to be attached to the harness by only one leg of the rope or even by the loop formed between the knot maybe...

and in this the amount of wrap is personal tuning and should not at all change a name of a knot...

someone other have better explanation for this caos?

Knots: Helical Knot

Knots: Pemberthy

Knots: French Prusik
