New floor for tipper

Looks like the tinworms have had a nibble at the floor of my tipper.

Its a thin steel floor with ally sides.

I was planning to put down a sheet of ally (probably have to overlap some sheets due to size).

I plan to just lay it over the top rather than hack off the entire floor first.

Any comments on thickness required, alternatives (weight and cost) and any decent suppliers darn sarf - Sussex area?

At the moment only postage stamp sized holes but things can only get bigger.

Thanks in advance

Id use marine ply to becaus even though the old floor is supporting the alloy sheet it is still rusting underneath and then thr alloy will just bend with logs so marine ply will be mor rigid than alloy or see if you can buy a cheap alloy flat bed and put your side and tipping frame on it i bought one last yeefor £100 and its was a tipper but ended up selling due to buying a complete ford tippping body witch was mint condition for £400 and it was white same as tge cab on my iveco win win

I've got the same problem mate, but the underrails are totally shot on mine as well.

Gong to need a totally rebuilt tray.

Just had my Daily done. Floor was rusted out on top of a cross member. Cross members rusty, side rails rusty. Was getting to the stage where we would have gone to tip off, and the ram woukd have come through the floor!😱😳

New steel floor, cross members and rails. Took the guy a week and £600

Other quote I had was £2400!
