Help me van won't start

I've got a y reg transit with dura torq engine and it won't start. Will turn over but not start. Was working fine. Any help as now stuck in a fencing firms yard scratching me balding head

Take the wire off of the top of the fuel solenoid and try again!

Look at the high pressure fuel pump - follow the hoses backwards from the injectors. The fuel shut off solenoid should be on the distributor pump - check all the fuses too, it might be on a separate fuse.

sounds like the immobiliser has cut in i'e the ign key isnt talking to the sensor on the ign barrel

have you dropped the keys and the key has fell apart my son dropped his and the key fob fell to bits & we had to search the floor for the little black chip then hurray the car started lol

Thats a good call . I did exactly that . Found the chip the next morning right were I had dropped the key . It has rained and wind all night long but it was still there luckily !

Could be electrical. Could be out of fuel. Could have fuel line rubbed through on chassis. Faulty immobilizer / key . Not sure if its as simple as solinoid at that age could be more complex.

The key was still in the ignition from the time it was last running to when it wouldn't start and is intact with no damage. No fuel leakage can be seen and the fuel tank is over 1/4 full. It just seems like the fuel has been switched off. Why do I get the feeling this is going to be expensive. Thanks for you help and advice. Will drag it back tomorrow to fix it

I have had same sypmtom on an escort diesel. Find the fuel solenoid on the fuel injection pump. Put a finger on it. Get someone to turn the ignition on and off. i.e oil and battery light position. Dont engage start as the viberations will not be felt.

 

You should feel a magneticlly activated ping in the unit if it works. Have a look at them on ebay they are generally round cylinders with a wire coming out the top.

 

A get you home fix is take it out. Remove the plunger and spring. It will start, but only stop buy stalling in a high gear with footbrake firmly applied.

Assuming the fuel filter isn't blocked ?

My ranger has now done it twice where I parked it up, went back to it later and it wouldn't start, changed fuel filter and all was fine.
