I sprayed some old railing recently with Hammerite Smoothfinish in Silver/Grey. The railing came up OK and the paint had a 'metal' look about it once dry.

This was sprayed onto metal though - I don't know if it will behave the same on wood...

when we wanted to have look a like musket bullets for putting down barrel we painted maltezeas in gun metal paint looked the biz. downside tried them and they made a dent in armour so were withdrawn from service.:blushing:

thought they would just explode into bits when the musket went off.

Hi Agg221 metallic wax for wood? where do they sell it I have never seen any and would love to get some to experiment with

Cheers Mark

I used Treasure wax but Rub'N Buff will do the same thing. It's not specifically for wood but it will go on pretty much anything, including wood. It has been used for centuries for cheap gilding but there is a much wider range of colours available now - like most things, available via Ebay or Amazon, or in your local art shop. Tiny jars/tubes, but a little goes a very long way.
