good hand winch?

I was pulling some windblown rootplates back in place today using tirfor style winch rated for 1.6 tonne lift and I snapped a safety pin. Plate was moving, very close to get it back in its original place, so I guess I need something a bit more than stated 1.6 tonne. Any advice on a budget tirfor-style winch?

Also what do you use to extend the line if the cable is not long enough, again in a pull of more than 1.6 tonne.

Were you using a snatch block?

It will double you 1.6 ton up to 3.2 ton......

 

I believe you'll need a block with a diameter of at least 10 cm for the 11.5 mm wire cable that is used by the Tirfor TU16. But I agree that a block is by far the most sensible solution to the problem.
