Is this a burr, fasciation or something else?? could this of killed the branch?:confused1: the pictures arn't great but theres a blower for scale

 

i removed it from a dead oak branch this week, it took two of us struggling to lift it over the tailgate of a transit to give you a slight idea of weight.

 

ive cut a slither off to have a look under the bark and that seemed pritty solid with nice markings, is there a market for this lump of wood? turning or something else it seems a shame to let it go to waste. is anyone out there interested in it? located in Farnham, Surrey

It's a bark and cambium necrosis causing morbid growth of year rings outside the trunk's or branches' shell. Because of the fine agate like inside structure and the quality of the very dense wood, the "lumps" are very popular with wood sculptors.
