working Visas for usa/ traveling europe

Hey Lads , the Mrs has just been accepted for an internship at a cool place in san fran , Its four months long starting august.

so that got me thinking what the hell i should get upto?

It gives me the opportunity to do a little more work around some different european countries while she's not here but I'm pretty keen to check out and work in the states also , Has anyone had experience with obtaining a work visa and was it a difficult process?
