Keen to up grade from my biggest saw, which is currently a 261. Was thinking for the money i'm gonna spend why not forget the 60cc range, and just bite the bullet and hit the 400 stihl series.

 

The price between the 441 and the 460 is small, thus surely more advantageous to buy the 460 over the 441, right?

Never used the 441 but heard from other friends its not that great. I do use the 460 and is a beast. I sure it has a 25" bar and chain on it and doesn't struggle, put a 20" on or there abouts and it'll fly bud 👍

Not sure if you can still get a 460 been replaced by the 461. The 460 is a great saw thou:thumbup:

460 is a very handy saw, 25" and 18" bars and will be able to do a good variety of cutting work. Hope this helps rowan.

I love my 441 compared to my old 440 it feels much quicker and easier to start. Put a smile on my face when i first started her up. Ive never used a 460, as i got a 660 and 880.

Yep the 460 is a good strong saw, old school reliable. Not sure you can get them anymore, but if you can, get it!

I have a 460 as my big saw and it cuts very well. It has a 20" bar on it.

It is a bit old school mind, and you certainly notice the vibes if you're using it lots. It goes through a fair bit of petrol too.

 

Almost the same weight, same power, better air filter, more fuel efficient, better anti-vibes......the newer 461 has got to be worth a look ???

Love my 460. Lives with a 25" bar but to be fair I only use it part time so no idea on vibes.

Thanks for all the replies lads, yeah that was helpful. My local saw shop has an old stock 460 in the back apparently. Most run and get it soon then.

I have a 460 with a 20". The bar I have is the expensive heavy duty stihl one, it's a false economy getting the cheaper one. This bar is so fat and stubby at the nose that it seems shorter than 20", It's also pretty vicious on kickback.

 

This saw is so good, It has a great power to weight ratio. I am going to invest in a 25" bar to make it really versatile.

 

Maybe the only saw you'll ever need?
